The NITRABAR Project

What did the NITRABAR project aim to achieve?

NITRABAR aimed to provide a viable approach to capture and treat nitrate associated with the primary sources of diffuse pollution arising from agriculture. It was intended to enable EU stakeholders to protect surface waters and aid the implementation and development of EU policies. To read more about the project aims, click here.

What was the programme of activities?

The project started in December 2005 and was completed in September 2009. For more information on the programme, click here.

The NITRABAR demonstration site

Towards the end of 2007, the NITRABAR system was installed at the ecos millennium environmental centre, Ballymena in Northern Ireland. Click here to find out more about the demonstration site.
